Systemic Psychotherapy

The foundation of my therapeutic approach is systemic therapy, which serves as the basis of my work. Systemic psychotherapy views our challenges not solely as internal issues but as deeply connected to our relationships with others and our social environment. In systemic therapy, we see you as part of a larger system—your family, circle of friends, or work environment. Together, we explore how these systems function and how you interact within them.

With a systemic perspective, I understand problems as interconnected, often rooted in the dynamics and patterns of relationships that have developed over years. Through therapy, we will examine the roles and communication patterns in your relationships and how they may impact your current concerns. Together, we will develop solutions and strategies that work for both you and your wider system, helping to ease your struggles and achieve your goals.

My Work Approach

I work holistically, which means I view the individual as a whole, integrating physical, mental, emotional, and social aspects into therapy. To offer a comprehensive treatment, I incorporate elements from various therapeutic approaches that complement systemic therapy. These include techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to change thought patterns and behaviors, methods from Psychodrama and Experiential Therapy to foster emotional processes and address interpersonal issues through role-playing, as well as approaches from Positive Therapy to strengthen internal resources and resilience.

Additionally, I use Art Therapy to harness creative expression as a tool for self-reflection and healing. Trauma Therapy is an integral part of my work to process and manage traumatic experiences. I also incorporate Body Therapy techniques to release physical and emotional blockages and strengthen bodily awareness. Furthermore, Psychonutritional Therapy is utilized to support the physical aspect of health and promote holistic well-being. By integrating these diverse approaches, I am able to provide a comprehensive and tailored therapy for each individual.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

In individual therapy, the focus is entirely on you and your unique needs, feelings, experiences, beliefs, and life views. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel safe to express yourself and gain a better understanding of your emotions and thoughts. Together, we will work on improving your self-acceptance and self-esteem by recognizing and honoring your own experiences and values, supporting your personal growth.

What’s important to me is to establish a trustful connection between us, based on empathy, unconditional acceptance, and congruence. The duration of individual therapy can vary depending on your needs and progress, and the long-term goal is to help you improve your well-being and mental health in a lasting way.

COUPLES THERAPY

Psychotherapy for couples is aimed at improving the quality of the relationship, resolving conflicts, and helping partners with communication, intimacy, and handling changes. Together, we'll work to identify the issues you're facing, set clear goals, and develop strategies for better communication and problem-solving.

For therapy to work well, both partners need to be open and honest about their feelings, concerns, and needs. It's also important that you're both willing to make changes. However, it's worth noting that sometimes couples therapy may not be the right choice initially. In some cases, it might be more helpful for each partner to consider individual therapy first, especially when personal issues are affecting the relationship.

FAMILY THERAPY

Family therapy is based on the understanding that families function as systems, where each member influences and is influenced by the others. I work with the entire family or part of it to identify and address relationship problems, role conflicts, communication difficulties, or other challenges.

Successful family therapy requires the willingness of all members to openly share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns in a safe and trusting environment. The goal is to develop a better understanding of the dynamics within the family, promote healthy communication patterns, and support positive changes. Through family therapy, we also explore ways to strengthen the bond between family members and encourage collective growth and healing, helping you build a stronger, more connected family unit.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

In systemic psychotherapy, individual therapy is a deeply personal and transformative process, where the focus is on you and your specific challenges. However, it doesn’t stop at just you—it also takes into account the larger social systems in which you exist, like your family, friends, colleagues, and all those key relationships that shape your world. In this approach, you’re seen as part of a broader network, and therapy helps strengthen your connection with these systems to foster growth and healing.

The ultimate goal is to improve not just your relationship with yourself, but also with the important people and environments in your life. Through systemic individual therapy, we’ll explore and work on shifting patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We’ll use a range of techniques to support you in making meaningful changes that align with your personal values and aspirations.

By weaving in your social surroundings into the therapeutic process, we create a foundation for long-lasting, positive transformation. These shifts in perspective and behavior can lead to deeper insights, improved communication, and healthier dynamics, both within you and with those around you. It's not just about overcoming obstacles—it's about building a life that aligns with who you truly are and where you want to go.

COUPLES THERAPY

In addition to individual therapy, I also offer couples therapy, which is specifically aimed at treating relationship issues within a partnership. The goal of couples therapy is to create a relationship culture that fosters and enriches the personal development of both partners. Together, we examine both partners' perceptions and needs in order to identify both the resources and limiting factors within the relationship. As a therapist, I provide a neutral and safe space to help identify habitual negative behaviors and teach how to overcome them effectively.

Couples therapy also offers an opportunity to use a fresh approach to strengthen the bond in a respectful and appreciative way. I particularly focus on the individual personality traits of each partner, which can influence the behavior within the relationship. The goal is to improve communication, trust, and emotional connection, resolving issues that arise. During therapy, partners will learn how to engage with each other and overcome problems together. Couples therapy provides a secure environment to express thoughts, feelings, and concerns, without fear of judgment or criticism. A key condition for successful couples therapy is the willingness of both partners to actively engage in the process.

TYPICAL ISSUES IN COUPLES THERAPY

Open and clear communication is a fundamental foundation for a healthy relationship. In couples therapy, partners can learn how to better express their feelings and needs and communicate constructively with one another.

In every relationship, conflicts are bound to arise. The key is not to avoid them, but to handle them in a way that respects both individuals. Couples therapy helps partners develop strategies to resolve disagreements in a healthy way and prevent misunderstandings from escalating into bigger issues.

Infidelity, lies, and other forms of betrayal can undermine trust in a relationship and have serious consequences on the partnership. In couples therapy, partners can learn how to rebuild trust and maintain a secure bond with each other.

Fulfilling intimacy and sexuality can provide a relationship with great strength. In couples therapy, partners can learn how to express their sexual desires and needs, and how to restore intimacy when it has been lost.

Different views on parenting, conflicts with in-laws, and dealing with other family members can be a burden on a relationship and may require support and guidance. In couples therapy, partners can learn how to address these issues and find common ground.

Couples may have different expectations and demands of each other’s roles within the relationship. These differences can lead to conflict, frustration, and misunderstandings. Life challenges or changes like moving, job loss, and health problems can present true tests for couples, often requiring therapy for guidance and support.

Important commitments, heavy workload, family demands, and the enormous responsibility of parenting can generate immense stress in a relationship, causing partners to drift apart. Couples therapy can help improve communication and develop effective time management strategies to find a healthy balance in everyday life.

Money is a frequent source of tension in relationships, and couples may need help managing financial challenges and setting shared goals.

Couples from different cultural backgrounds may struggle to accept their differences and build their relationship.

Addictions can place a huge strain on a partnership and even destroy it. Couples therapy can help identify the underlying causes of addiction and find ways to cope with it. Supporting a partner through addiction recovery can be crucial, and therapy can offer strategies to maximize support and improve the chances of successful recovery.

THERAPY PROCESS

An important prerequisite for couples therapy is that both partners agree to actively participate and walk the path of change together. Therapy means consciously and consistently working on oneself. Generally, both partners are invited to attend therapy sessions together. However, in some cases, it may make sense to hold separate individual sessions. The phases described underneath serve as a guideline and will be adjusted according to needs. A phase can consist of several sessions and, if necessary, be supplemented by one or more additional sessions.

FIRST PHASE

Getting to know each other, building trust, discussing the reasons for therapy, setting expectations, establishing the framework, defining initial goals.

SECOND PHASE

Discussing conflict issues and individual needs, understanding the background of the problems, creating a genogram, shifting perspectives.

THIRD PHASE

Insight into relationship daily life, discussing communication behavior and reactions to problematic situations, defining future visions, identifying resources, implementation in practice.

FOURTH PHASE

Solution finding and conflict management, identifying alternative behaviors and thought patterns, role-playing.

FIFTH PHASE

Discussing reflections and acknowledging progress, defining the current state, anchoring, repetition, discussing further topics and conflicts if necessary.

FAMILY THERAPY

In family therapy, the focus is on understanding and nurturing the relationships between family members. It's about working together to heal wounds, mend connections, and strengthen the bond that holds you all together. We’ll explore how each family member’s unique experience shapes the whole family dynamic. Communication is key, and my goal is to create a space where everyone feels heard, understood, and respected. Here, you will be encouraged to open up—sharing your thoughts, your feelings, your fears—without fear of judgment. By learning to communicate better, you’ll discover new ways to overcome misunderstandings, resolve conflicts, and reconnect with each other on a deeper level.

One of the core aims of family therapy is to shed light on the patterns that may have been silently influencing your family life for years. These might be behaviors or unspoken tensions that affect your relationships. Together, we'll gently uncover these hidden dynamics and explore how they can be transformed to bring about healing and growth. By recognizing these patterns and working on them, the whole family can experience positive change, creating a healthier environment for everyone.

Family therapy is also here for those moments of transition and change that every family faces—whether it’s a divorce, a move, the birth of a child, or the loss of a loved one. Life can feel overwhelming during these times, but therapy can help guide you through the emotional waves, offering support and practical strategies to cope with new challenges.

Whether you decide to come together as a family unit or meet in smaller groups, the therapy sessions will be a safe place for everyone to work through their emotions, find understanding, and rediscover joy in your connections.
